We are very excited to announce an RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Flypast at Brinklow Festival for Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th July.
The iconic Spitfire will be visiting the Festival and Scarecrow Trail and provide a single flypast on Saturday.
On Sunday 12th we will be treated to a Dakota flypast at 13.35.
The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight operates from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, flying hundreds of displays and flypasts each year to commemorate those that have fallen in the service of the UK. The RAF BBMF also serves to promote the modern day air force and inspire future generations.
It’s very important to note that this a flypast only and not a full display. Attendance is subject to weather, serviceability and last minute change by RAF. We however keep our fingers crossed!
The Douglas C47 Dakota is one of the most successful military transport aircraft designs in history, and was widely used by the Allies during World War Two.
The Flight’s Dakota ZA947, named ‘Kwicherbichen’ by her crews, conducted paradropping operations on the eve of D-Day, plus missions to evacuate casualties and re-supply forces.
She is displayed on her own and in BBMF formations, and also used for training pilots and aircrew for the Flight’s Lancaster.
